This was discouraging news to read in my Monday Morning Insight newsletter a couple weeks ago, especially since I made a post about how wonderful the testimony behind the "Healer" song was and had the video of the story and the song up. Turns out the guy didn't have cancer, he was a fraud. However, he really is sick, in the head, spiritually, etc. and needs some serious prayer and healing. This is not a bashing post, don't misunderstand me, even though I am upset about this, and the story is very confusing and complicated it seems. One thing I will say is that at least he's the one that brought all of this to light, he was not "caught," he confessed it all. So perhaps the repentance and healing has already been started by the Holy Spirit.
Read the article here.Whenever you get scandals like this in the church, we're faced with how to respond. *The first thing should always be to pray for the people involved and don't be quick to attack them or turn our backs on them. But then how about after we pray and we have reactions in our minds and hearts. In my case, I'm just disappointed and more upset about how this looks to a watching world more than anything else. It hasn't done much else to me. But for the thousands of people who really looked up to this man, or who were putting their hope in God for help with an illness (as a result of hearing this man's testimony and song), they might be very discouraged and lacking in faith as a result of this. This incident really reminds us that we can not hinge our faith on an individual Christian's leadership and influence. Our faith has to be founded on Christ alone. The apostle Paul made this point too when he said, "One of you says, 'I follow Paul'; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Peter"...Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?"
Have you ever had your faith shaken as a result of another Christian's sin or shortcomings?

Believe it or not, I was in the dark about this whole thing...never heard of it!
I think our pastor said it best a few months ago.."Keep your eyes on Jesus. If you focus on man, you will always be disappointed." Amen!
I just saw a statistic on a promo for "The Call" that said 89% of all online pornography sites originate in the United States. Not exactly a contribution to be proud of. Our nation needs REVIVAL in the worst way...
My faith was not shaken, but was very disappointed with Jim Baker. There was so much that could have been done for witnessing if there had not been scandal.
