Being the Church through a storm

I came across this article and was struck by what an excellent response this church in Houston is having after the devastating hurricane that happened recently.  I honestly haven't heard a whole lot about how bad it really is, time to pay attention I guess.  Anyways, click here and check out this article if you get a minute.

I hope more churches in that area are able to be this kind of help and light as well.  I almost feel like anybody around the country who's able to get connected and help with relief ought to, I wonder if that's you or me?  If I'm honest I probably have a bunch of excuses for why I can't go, but I don't know how valid those really are compared to how great the need is.  Either way, lets keep those affected by the hurricane(s) in our prayers.

Wow, talk about action. Not just sitting back and waiting for someone else to step up to the plate. I've always wanted to go help with a support effort. How cool would it be to take a youth group trip somewhere to help those in need. I think it would be pretty eye opening, even for me, I've only seen damage like that in pictures.

Food for thought: Why is it that we go to the other side of the world (which God uses in amazing ways) to help out but don't always see the need right next door?
